Players with tremendous upside in baseball are often “five-tool” talents. Lamar Rudd had so many weapons in his toolbox that he not only starred on the diamond, but on the basketball court, too.

Power? Check. Rudd belted a school-record 17 home runs in his Monmouth career. He helped the Scots win three Midwest Conference titles by driving in 98 runs, hitting .352 and posting a career .624 slugging percentage. Rudd earned first-team All-Midwest Conference honors as a junior and a senior. The latter year, he slugged seven homers and hit a robust .438.

Speed? Indeed. The Quincy, Ill., product not only stole 20 bases, but he used his quickness to snare a school-record 127 steals in basketball, where he helped the Scots to MWC playoff appearances in each of his four seasons. Rudd scored 855 points and dished out 351 assists, the second-highest MC total at the time of his induction.
