Donny Armstrong became the first basketball player at Monmouth College to score 1,000 points in a career, achieving the feat in three seasons. He reached the milestone during his all-conference senior season as he led Monmouth to a third place finish in the Midwest Conference. Armstrong preceded his basketball honors by gaining All-MWC first team status as a football halfback.

The high-scoring forward served notice of his offensive prowess during his sophomore year in basketball, pouring in a school-record 273 points. During his three years as a varsity star in basketball, Armstrong helped fuel Monmouth to a combined record of 37-15.
