In the storied history of Monmouth College athletics, few Fighting Scots athletes attain all-Midwest Conference honors in three separate sports. One such competitor was Bruce Stotlar, who used his combination of size, strength and natural athleticism to rise above his peers in football, wrestling and baseball. It was in the latter sport that he made a name for himself on the national level.

In the spring of 1971, Stotlar homered a school-record 10 times to lead all small college players in homers per game and slugging percentage (.951). He was named to the All-MWC team at first base as a senior, batting a team-high .438. The Scots compiled a 28-4-1 league record in his three varsity seasons.

In football, Stotlar was a second-team all-league defensive tackle in 1968 and made the first team in 1970. Stotlar also captured the MWC heavyweight wrestling title in 1970.
