Jack Ozburn was a lanky center twice selected to all-state teams in basketball. He also lettered in track, heaving the javelin 170’10 in a meet against Knox in 1932.

Ozburn established himself as a star on the basketball team as early as his second year with his uncanny play under the basket. Playing a rugged schedule that included Johnny Wooden-led Purdue, the squad went 11-9, and a writer noted that “the entire season was featured by the brilliant play of a sophomore, Jack Ozburn.”

Leading the team in scoring his junior year, Ozburn was chosen to the Associated Press All-Star Little 19 Conference first team. For the first time ever, the Scots won all their home games, placing second in the Midwest Conference.

Ozburn capped his basketball career with an all-state honor his senior season.
