The ink on Kari Bailey-Shimmin’s plaque will not be dry long before it needs to be changed again, as the all-time winningest coach in the history of Monmouth’s volleyball program is still chalking up victories. Entering the 2011 season, she had a record of 253-180, and no one has a longer tenure as a women’s head coach in MC history.

What is set in stone are the numbers from her outstanding career as a Fighting Scot player: 944 kills, 149 aces and 1,427 digs. When the two-time All-MWC honoree was inducted, she ranked in the top seven all-time in all three categories.

As a freshman from nearby Union High School, Bailey helped Monmouth to a school-record 25 victories in 1993, and the Scots also reached the 20-win plateau in 1994. During her 13 years as head coach, the Scots have reached that level seven more times, including the new school record of 26 victories in 2002.
