Eugene Tinker saw little but success since matriculating at Monmouth College. He played on the undefeated 1931 football team and as a catcher he helped the Fighting Scots baseball team beat the University of Iowa. He never lost a football game agaionst Knox College.

Following his graduation, “Tink” went on to a long and successful high school teaching and coaching career in nearby Roseville. He coached every sport during his 17-year tenure, including two undefeated football teams and one undefeated basketball team.     

He was inducted into the Illinois High School Football Coaches Hall of Fame in 1980, and the athletic field at Roseville High School was named in his honor.
