A member of the Benton High School basketball team that advanced to the Illinois state quarterfinals, Dick Corn scored 554 points in his Fighting Scots career on 47 percent shooting and was the team leader in assists. As a senior, he helped guide Monmouth to a 13-5 league record and a third-place finish--the  Scots' most wins in the MWC in more than a decade.

Following graduation, Corn took over the reins of the Pickneyville High School program and coached the Panthers to the Illinois High School Association's Class A state title games three times, winning championships in 1994 and 2001. His overall record following his most recent title climbed to 573-207 at PHS and included at least 20 victories in 20 of his last 26 seasons.
