Fred Blick came to Monmouth College from Washington, Iowa, in 1917 and began a lifelong association that continued until his death in 1976.

During his undergraduate years, Blick earned three letters each in football and basketball and two letters in track. One of the fastest runners on the football and track squads, he played halfback and end on the gridiron and was a sprinter for the cindermen. He also played center in basketball.

Blick served as a chaplain in the U.S. Air Force and, as a civilian, he was a Presbyterian minister, eventually retiring from the largest Presbyterian Church in Pittsburgh, Pa.

Blick’s sense of duty included his alma mater, which he ably assisted with characteristic dedication. Blick maintained an active interest in young people and encouraged several generations of students to attend Monmouth, including Hall of Famers Charlie Corle, Dennis Plummer and Ron Baker.
