Glen Rankin came to Monmouth College from nearby Biggsville. He earned nine varsity letters in football, basketball and track with the Fighting Scots and, though he never spoke of his accomplishments, he did have his days in the sun.

In the third game of the 1941 football season, he set a record that may stand at Monmouth forever, recording a 92-yard punt for the Scots which helped them defeat Coe 14-6 and finish 5-2-1 for that season. In basketball, Rankin was selected to the All-Midwest Conference team as a forward his senior season.

After graduation, Rankin entered the U.S. Navy from 1943-46. He continued to serve his country from 1947-54 as a member of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Rankin returned to Monmouth College in 1957 and served the school in many ways, including director of admissions, alumni relations, college relations and deferred giving.
