Gary Allen was a four-year starter in football as an offensive guard and a three-year starter at a linebacker position. He was selected to the Midwest Conference second team at guard during his sophomore year and was a first team offensive guard and linebacker in his junior year. His outstanding junior season was capped by his selection to the 1953 Tau Kappa Epsilon All-American team.

A four-year starter in baseball, he played catcher and shortstop. An outstanding defensive player, Allen was also a consistent .300 hitter.

Active in student life, Allen also served as president of TKE, president of the M Club and president of the senior class.

Allen served in the U.S. Army from 1955-57, then went on to an outstanding career as a teacher and coach, first at Paw Paw (Ill.) High School in Paw Paw, Ill., then at Antioch (Ill.) High School 1962-78.
