One of the Fighting Scots’ most successful female athletes, Kim Mead excelled in basketball, volleyball and softball. After an exceptional athletic career at Westmer High School in nearby Joy, Mead won a total of 11 varsity letters playing those three sports at Monmouth.

In basketball, Mead scored more than 20 points in a game four times and equaled an MC single-game rebounding record with 20 against Knox in 1980.

Mead established the Scots’ softball record for most runs scored in a season with 33 in 1982, the same season she played in all 32 games, hit a career best .391 with 29 hits and tallied 16 RBI.

In volleyball, she was the high-point scorer for the team in 1980 and led the Scots to their first conference volleyball title in 1981.
