After lettering for three years in football, basketball and baseball, Bobby Woll continued to serve Monmouth as a teacher, coach, athletic director and friend to all until his death in 1999.

The “little man from Murphysboro” is most remembered for his football play, such as his 95-yard run in 1932, longest in the nation that year. In his career he ran for touchdowns of 50 yards or more eight times and led the state in scoring in 1932. Woll made the UPI All-State team in 1932 and 1933. He was also selected to the Midwest Conference and Little Nineteen teams twice. His football jersey, No. 29, was retired at the end of his senior season at the request of his teammates.

Woll coached several sports at Monmouth for 45 years, guiding his basketball teams to an 18-year record of 201-116 and two MWC titles.
