Dick Rodgers was one of the mainstays of a Monmouth College team that reversed the school’s basketball fortunes. Monmouth’s 12 league wins in 1965-1966 exceeded the Scots’ combined conference victory total for the previous three seasons.

A sharpshooting guard, Rodgers won the conference scoring title with an average of 23.4 points per game and was named a unanimous all-conference selection. He was also a second-team all-loop pick for the 1964-65 season when he was the league’s fourth-leading scorer with a 20.3 average. Rodgers’ career high was 34 points, and he also tallied 17 straight points in a 94-83 victory over St. Olaf during his senior season.

In addition to his basketball prowess, Rodgers was a versatile performer in track, winning three varsity letters while competing in the high hurdles, the high jump, the long jump and the pole vault.
