Monmouth took two of the three doubles matches and rolled to a 7-2 win at Illinois College Tuesday evening.
The Scots' top two doubles teams - No. 1
Katherine Hinman and
Emma Johanns and No. 2
Morgan Holle and
Natalie Curtis - each won their matched by 8-6 scores. MdKenzie DeVilder and Haley Johston at No. 3 fell in a clsoe 8-5 match.
DeVidler won her first collegiate singles match in straight sets. Playing at No. 3, DeVilder won handily 6-2, 6-3. No. 6 Curtis ran her singles win streak to seven with a straight set win.
Straight sets were also in order at Nos. 1 and 2 where Hinman and Johanns each won. Only Holle at No. 4 needed the full three sets for a win. Holle came back from a 7-6 first set loss to win 7-5, 10-3.
Monmouth will resume play on Oct. 7 to begin a three-match home stand.
