The Monmouth College men's soccer played their first road game of the season and lost 5-0 at Millikin on Saturday. The Scots ended up with twice as many shots on goal as the Big Blue but are still in search of the season's first goal.
The Big Blue scored in the sixth minute and made it 2-0 just two minutes later. The hosts added first half goals in the 16th and 42nd minutes. Monmouth put three shots on goal in the first half.
Cohen Ledet (Maurice, Louisiana) had his shot saved in the 23rd minute and
Omar Portillo (El Paso, Texas) had a shot saved in the 31st minute. Five minutes later,
Alex Cruz (El Paso, Texas) was denied by the Millikin keeper.
Millikin made it 5-0 early in the second half with a free kick goal.
Owen Murray (Cedar City, Utah) forced three saves in the second half while Cruz had another shot on goal. Freshman
Ryan Rodriguez-Gardea (El Paso, Texas) also put a shot on goal in the 63rd minute as did Amilios Ioannou (Lanarca, Cyprus) seven minutes later.
Paul Oros (El Paso, Texas) had Monmouth's last shot on goal in the final seconds of the game.

Luis Villa (El Paso, Texas) and Cruz both played all 90 minutes…The Scots had a season-high 20 players see action..Freshman Juhlden George (Muscatine, Iowa) made his collegiate debut with 15 minutes of action…Monmouth is 5-10-1 all-time against Millikin, including a 4-1 home loss last season…The last Monmouth win in the series came in 2014…Coach Hatleli is a Millikin alum and former soccer player…The Scots play at Eureka on Wednesday with a 7 p.m. kickoff…The next home game is Saturday, Sept. 13 at 1:30 p.m. against Buena Vista.
