The Monmouth College women's tennis team completed the home portion of their schedule with a 7-2 loss to Illinois College on Friday night. The Midwest Conference match was part of Homecoming weekend on campus.

In doubles, Natalie Labicki (Antioch, Illinois) and Emily Laughlin (Milan, Illinois) won 8-5 at No. 1. Emily Henson (Geneseo, Illinois) and Isabel Hammond (Germantown Hills, Illinois) lost 8-2 at No. 2 doubles. Jennifer Shimmin (Monmouth, Illinois) and Julia Mheidze (Springfield, Illinois) lost 8-1 at No. 3 doubles. 

In singles Labicki played at No. 1 and won her match 6-3, 6-2. Laughlin fell 6-1, 7-6 (10) at No. 2 singles with a marathon battle in the tiebreak. Three of the other four matches went to IC in straight sets with Henson falling 6-2, 1-6, 6-0 at No. 4.

The Scots will be in action on Tuesday in a non-conference road match at St. Ambrose. They will finish the conference slate on Oct. 8 with matches at Grinnell and Cornell.
