The Monmouth College volleyball team went 2-2 over the weekend at the Millikin Invitational in Decatur, Illinois. The Scots went 1-1 on both days and are now 7-7 on the 2021 season.
The Scots started the tournament with a Friday loss to Marian University 25-20, 25-20, 25-21.
Amanda Dybal (Apex, North Carolina) led the team with seven kills while
Karlie Drish (Milan, Illinois) had nine assists and
Madi Fellhauer (Jacksonville, Illinois) had three aces.
Kaylee Woodard (Monmouth, Illinois) had 22 digs to lead the defense while
Sarah LaHood (East Peoria, Illinois) had two blocks.
Friday night the Scots beat Blackburn for the second time this season, winning 25-20, 23-25, 25-22, 25-19. Fellhauer led the way with a career-high 15 kills and three aces while Megan Kimble (Farmington, Illinois) posted a career-high eight blocks. Drish had 21 assists and Woodward collected 20 digs in the win.
On Saturday the first match went to Greenville in three sets, 26-24, 25-17, 25-15. Freshman
Layne Wright (Davenport, Iowa) led the Scots with six kills while Kimble had four blocks. Drish led the way with 12 assists and Woodard had nine digs.
The final match of the tournament resulted in a 3-0 win over Depauw University. The Scots started fast and won the match 25-14, 25-22, 25-22 to finish 2-2 in Decatur.
Fellhauer led the way with nine kills while Fellhauer had two blocks and an ace. Woodard posted 25 digs while Drish had 19 assists in the win.
For the tournament, Fellhauer led Monmouth with 33 kills and Dybal recorded 25. Fellhauer also had seven aces over the weekend. Kimble finished with 14 blocks while LaHood had six. Drish led the team with 61 assists in the four matches while
Paige Bergschneider (Alexander, Illinois) had 42. Woodard's 76 digs led the team as she averaged 5.4 per set.
The Scots are in action this weekend as they begin Midwest Conference play in Iowa. First up is a 7 p.m. contest on Friday at Grinnell followed by a 1 p.m. Saturday tilt at Cornell. Â
