Monmouth faces Central College in Missouri

The Monmouth College Fighting Scots baseball team will be the first athletic program to take the field on the road in the 2020-21 season when they play Central College in Fulton, Mo. on Saturday at 1 p.m. The Scots were originally scheduled to follow that with a game against host Westminster but will now play Central again at 4 p.m. Head coach Alan Betourne’s team went 6-4 last season before COVID-19 cancelled the season and all 10 games were played in Florida.

Betourne, Alan
Former Monmouth star Alan Betourne is nine wins away from 100 as a head coach

On the Sidelines

Betourne begins his sixth season in charge at his alma mater. The Fighting Scots won the 2018 and 2019 Midwest Conference titles under his leadership and Betourne was Coach of the Year in both seasons. The 2018 team set a school record with 29 wins and made the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2002. Betourne was a freshman on that 2002 team as he began a career that ended with three All-MWC selections and a .344 career average.  With 91 wins he sits nine away from becoming the fourth head coach in Fighting Scots baseball history to amass 100 career wins.,
