Monmouth didn't let a weather-related venue change dampen their best 10-game start since 1996 Sunday afternoon, improving to 6-3-1 on the season with a 2-1 win over Beloit.
Â
Heavy rains in Beloit forced the matchup with the Bucs to move to a few miles south near Rockford, Ill., and pushing the start time back 30 minutes. Following a scoreless first half, the Scots took the lead on
Alvaro Alvarez's team-leading sixth goal of the season, coming in the 46
th minute. Ten minutes later, the Bucs knotted the score at 1-1, but the tie didn't last long.
Lucas Sondgeroth netted his game-winning goal six minutes later in the 62
nd minute to give the Scots their first league win of the season.
Â
The Scots outshot the Bucs 17-9 and allowed only three Beloit shots on goal as
Marcos Garibay earned his fifth win against one loss.
Â
Monmouth continues league play Saturday, hosting Cornell in a 1:30 p.m. contest.
