Monmouth swept Fontbonne 9-0 Saturday, but it was the No. 2 doubles team of
Rachael Leifheit and
Alison Bowman that got the spotlight.
Â
The tandem set the new doubles win streak record at seven after posting an 8-0 win over the Griffins, breaking the mark of six, set Sara Yerks and Holly Trotter in 2006. The pair also picked up singles wins in straight sets – Leifheit at No. 3 where she didn't drop a game and at No. 5 when Bowman cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 win.
Â
Emily Laughlin and
Isabel Hammond matched Bowman and Leifheit in doubles where they won their No. 3 match by the same 8-0 score.
Emma Johanns and
McKenzie DeVilder also had an easy time at No. 1, winning 8-2.
Â
The Scots won all their singles matches in straight sets. Joining Leifheit and Bowman with singles wins were Johanns at No. 1 and Laughlin at No. 4 as each won 6-0, 6-1. DeVilder posted a 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 2 and
Emily Henson was a 6-2, 6-2 winner at No. 6.
