Three Scots threw down double digit kills in Monmouth's final match on Day 1 of the two-day Knox Invitational to earn a split midway through the tournament.

Riley Cook hammered eight kills, hitting .464 while
Ashley Farris hit 11 winners and
Loryn Beal 10 as Monmouth outlasted St. Mary's of the Woods 3-2 in the day's finale. Setter
Laura Dulee made the most of her attacks, hitting .636 to log seven kills and 42 assists in the match. The Scots rolled to a 25-11 Set 1 win and took a three-point win in Set 2 before the Pomeroys took the next two sets to force a decisive fifth set. Monmouth jumped out to a 6-2 Set 5 lead and held off St. Mary's down the stretch to even their record at 4-4 on the season.

Monmouth's opening match, a 3-0 loss to Central, was exceptionally close, dropping Sets 1 and 2 by identical 25-22 scores. The Dutch ran away with the middle set 25-13 as Monmouth's offense had trouble gaining traction.

The Scots wrap up the tournament Saturday with back-to-back games against Anderson (Ind.) and Iowa Wesleyan beginning at 2 p.m.
