Freshman 
Isabel Hammond picked up her first collegiate win in her debut Friday as the Fighting Scots opened their season at home.
 
Hammond's convincing 6-0, 6-1 straight set win at No. 6 singles was the Scots' lone win in a n 8-1 loss to Wartburg. All the singles matches were determined in straight sets in the season opener.
 
Monmouth's No. 3 doubles pair – freshmen 
Emily Henson and 
Emily Laughlin – nearly opened their career's with a win before falling 8-6 in the tightest match of the day. Senior 
Rachael Leifheit and newcomer 
Alison Bowman were clipped at No. 2, 8-5 and 
Emma Johanns and 
McKenzie DeVilder dropped an 8-3 decision at No. 1.
 
The Scots resume play Saturday, hosting Central in a 11 a.m. contest.
