A tough 7-2 loss at Illinois College made the road to the Midwest Conference Team Championships a bit rougher for the Scots.
Monmouth entered the match knowing they needed to win two out of their final three matches to make the tournament field, but bell behind the Blueboys 3-0 coming out of doubles. Only
Zach Harris and
Andrew Shie notched victories. Harris played a see-saw match at No. 3, winning the first set 6-2, dropping the second 6-0 before coming back with a 10-4 win in the tiebreaker. Shie won at No. 2 when his opponent retired in the first set.
The Scots host Grinnell and Cornell Saturday, needing to defeat both to stay in the hunt for an MWC berth.
