Monmouth remains in second place in the Midwest Conference after falling in overtime to Cornell Wednesday night at Glennie Gym 70-64.

The Scots jumped out to a 15-point first half lead, but was not able to withstand Cornell's second-half surge. The Rams fought back from a 10-0 Monmouth run to open the game, taking the lead for the first time with 8:20 left in the game. The teams fought through three ties the rest of the way as
Becca Gallis hit a pair of free throws with 21 seconds left to force OT.

Cornell scored the first bucket of the extra session and never trailed to drop Monmouth to 12-5 in the league, one game ahead of Lake Forest which lost to regular season champion Ripon.

Gallis ked the Scots with 19 points.
Carley Turnbull added a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds while dishing out six assists.

Monmouth hosts St. Norbert Saturday in a 1 p.m. contest. A win would wrap up second place in the MWC heading into next week's conference tournament.
