Box Score 1 |
Box Score 2 Monmouth rolled to an easy three-set win and followed with a hard-fought 3-2 victory to complete Friday's action at the Knox Invitational with a 2-0 mark.
The Scots surrendered just 30 points in the first two sets of a 3-0 win over Finlandia. It was a tighter nightcap when Monmouth and Westminster split the first four sets with the Scots winning the even-numbered sets and the Blue Jays taking the odd-numbered sets. Monmouth broke that pattern in the decisive fifth set with a 15-10 win.
Lauren Sperry, who threw down a team-high seven kills in the day's first match, drilled 18 winners in the late game.
Riley Cook added a dozen and
Brooke Decker chipped in with 11.
Monmouth resumes play Saturday at 1 p.m. against Anderson. They'll wrap up the weekend with a 5 p.m. contest against Lincoln.
