Box Score Monmouth came back from an early five-run deficit and used a five-run eighth to clip Bridgewater State University 10-7, leaving Florida with a two-game winning streak after winning six of their last seven games in the Sunshine State.
Â
BSU touched the Scots for six runs over the first three innings before Monmouth mounted their own rally. Trailing 6-2 in the bottom of the fifth,
Jake Starkey set the table with a leadoff walk. A wild pitch and a base on balls to
Matt Temaner was followed by an error on
Bryson Sheppard's batted ball, allowing Starkey to score. Temaner then scored on a wild pitch with
Grant Myers at the plate.
Harry Sanchez' RBI base hit with two outs brought Sheppard home, cutting the margin to 6-5. The Scots took the lead in the eighth when they batted around, plating five runs on four hits – the big blow, a three-run triple by Myers. Starkey was summoned in the ninth to close out the game, earning his fourth save of the season, just one save from the Scots' season record.
Ryan Schulz worked a scoreless seventh and eighth to log his second win of the spring.

The Scots open play back in the Midwest next Wednesday with a twinbill at Eureka.
