DATO DELIVERS WINNING JACK AGAINST HIGHLANDERS

Box Score Monmouth staged a comeback for the ages Friday afternoon at Glasgow Field, coming back with a six-run seventh to edge MacMurray 10-8.

The Scots spotted the Highlanders an 8-4 lead before Alex Sheetz came from the bullpen in the third and retired the side. Connor Sharp then took the reins and tossed six innings of two-hit ball to pick up his team-best third win. The Scots rallied in the fifth when Cameron Kellar drilled a two-run homer and the Scots took advantage of and error and passed ball to cut the margin to 8-4. Monmouth batted around in the decisive seventh when Tyler Ulfig led off with a double as the Scots opened the frame with four straight hits. Trailing 8-6, Mike Dato smashed a three-run bomb to give the Scots the lead. Kellar's RBI base hit two batters later added the insurance run for the Scots' third straight win. As Dato and Kellar each finished with three RBIs.

Monmouth opens Midwest Conference play Thursday  at Knox and will host the Prairie Fire next Saturday.
