Allie Meyers scored the first double-double of her career with a 10-point, 14-rebound effort as four Scots hit double figures in Monmouth's 92-72 season-opening win over Aurora University at the Anderson (Ind.) Tournament Saturday afternoon.

Monmouth broke open a close game after leading 20-18 at the end of the first quarter. Five different Scots scored in the first three minutes of the second period as Monmouth began to pull away.
Becca Gallis hit back-to-back threes on the way to a team-high 28 points to give the Scots a 41-30 lead with 3:25 left in the half, Monmouth's first double-digit lead of the game. Gallis added a deuce in the final minute as the Scots entered the locker room with a 50-35 lead.

Carley Turnbull hit two of her 11 points on Monmouth's first possession of the second half and
Shayne Smith hit a jumper in the paint for two of her 25 points on the following possession to keep the momentum going. The lead stretched to 21 on Monmouth's next bucket, a layup by Gallis, as the Scots maintained a comfortable lead for the remainder of the game.

Gallis finished 11-of-12 from the floor, which included a 5-for-5 performance from 3-point range. Smith's day included an 11-of-18 effort from the floor as Monmouth finished the game shooting 38-of-64 while holding Aurora to a 24-for-61 effort.
