Monmouth's men's soccer team shook off a rainy start to post a 3-0 win over Illinois College for the Scots' Homecoming.
 
Martin Zafirov gave the Scots the only score they would need, taking a Mario Sanchez pass and delivering it to the back of the net in the seventh minute. Ten minutes later, Zafirov fed Lucas Sondgeroth for an insurance goal as Monmouth rolled to a 3-0 halftime lead. Alvaro Alvarez earned the assist on Agustin Miranda's goal in the 30^th minute as Monmouth pulled into a tie for third in the Midwest Conference.
 
The Scots fired off 26 shots in the contest and limited IC to just seven to improve to 5-4-1 on the season.
 
Monmouth continues league play Monday with a 3 p.m. contest at Knox, currently tied for the MWC lead.
