Monmouth got a nine-kill effort from Lauren Sperry, but the Scots ran out of gas in a 3-0 loss at Ripon Friday night.

Ripon took a back-and-forth first set 27-25 as neither team took a lead of more than three points. Back-to-back kills by the Red Hawks with the score knotted at 25-all gave the hosts the all-important Set 1 win. Three straight Ripon kills at the end gave the Red Hawks a 25-22 win in Set 2 before the Scots ran out of gas in a 25-17 third set loss.

Monmouth travels to Lawrence Saturday for a 1 p.m. match to wrap up their weekend trip to Wisconsin.
