Monmouth slipped just outside the top four in the Midwest Conference after Lake Forest leapfrogged the Scots Saturday, downing Monmouth 2-0 in Lake Forest.
 
The Foresters broke the ice in the 30^th minutes and added an insurance goal in the 52^nd minute to climb past the Scots who now trail in the four-team MWC postseason race by a mere two playoff points. Lake Forest got off one more shot than the Scots who had twice as many corner kicks as the hosts.
 
The Scots play at Lawrence Sunday at 11 a.m. before next Saturday's road trip to Grinnell.
