The Fighting Scots opened their home Midwest Conference season battling two teams which make annual trips to the league championships, hosting Grinnell and Cornell Saturday at the Monmouth College Tennis Stadium.
Monmouth's singles fell in straight sets against Grinnell in the day's opener, after dropping all three doubles matches.
Katherine Hinman took a team-high five games before falling at No.1 singles.
The Scots' No. 2 doubles team of
Morgan Holle and
Natalie Curtis nearly pulled out the day's lone win in the late match with Cornell. The senior tandem pushed the Rams to the limit in an 8-6 loss. The Scots' singles all fell in straight sets.
Monmouth makes the short drive to Knox on Wednesday for a 4:30 contest.
