Box Score 2 A day after Monmouth and Grinnell split their Midwest Conference doubleheader in Iowa, the teams repeated the feat in Illinois as Monmouth took Game 1, 10-4 and Grinnell pulled out the nightcap 6-3.

The Fighting Scots struck early in the opener, plating four first inning runs while batting around.
Grant Myers drove in
Dayton Ince with the Scots' first run of the game and Monmouth added on with three more runs with two outs in the inning. The Scots sent eight batters to the plate in the three-run sixth to expand their lead to 7-2 making a winner of
Connor McDonald who went seven innings to improve to 2-1 on the season.

Grinnell scored first in the late game, and after the Scots knotted the score at 1-1 on
Bryson Sheppard's hit up the middle in the third, scratched out a pair of runs in the fifth for a 3-1 lead. Monmouth drew a run closer in the fifth when
Austin Hardy's double drove in Ince. The Scots tied the game at 3-3 the following inning when Ince lofted a sac fly to right, bringing in
Nic Stevens. With the game turned over to the bullpen, the Pioneers tookthe upper hand with a go-ahead run in the seventh for a 4-3 lead and added two insurance runs in the eighth.
