Box Score 1 |
Box Score 2 Austin Hardy jacked a pair of homeruns and drove in all of Monmouth's runs in a 6-5 win over Cornell in the first game of Friday's scheduled twinbill.

Hardy's clouts backed
Tyler McDonald's seven inning effort on the mound, giving the sophomore his third win of the year. McDonald was staked to a 2-0 first inning lead when Hardy hit his first homer of the afternoon with two outs. The Rams touched McDonald for a solo run in the top of the third, but Hardy erased the run with a two-run double in the bottom of the inning. Nursing a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the sixth, Hardy gave the Scots the badly-needed insurance runs with his second homer and third extra base hit of the day. The Rams threatened in the top of the ninth with a two-run homer to cut the margin to 6-5 but Connor Sharp came from the bullpen to end the threat and earn the save.

The Scots and Rams played into the sixth inning in Game 2 tied at 1-1 when the game was suspended due to darkness. The game will be resumed before the scheduled home doubleheader at Cornell. Due to weather concerns, the exact date of the games have yet to be set.
