Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Dayton Ince had a monster day, going 5-for-9 with three RBIs as Monmouth split their pair of games at the Midwest Conference Crossover in Maustin, Wis., winning Saturday's opener over Lawrence 6-1, before dropping a 15-7 slugfest in Game 2.

Ince reached base four times and scored twice against Lawrence as Monmouth jumped out to a 2-0 lead after one inning. Ince's base hit in the opening inning drove in the first run of the game as the Scots picked up three of their nine hits in the first inning. Leading 4-1 in the eighth, Harry Sanchez set the table with a leadoff double. Ince and Austin Hardy then added RBIs to open the Scots' cushion. Jason DeCicco picked up the win, working seven innings and striking out five.

The Scots had steady scoring in the late loss to Beloit, but the Bucs jumped on two big innings to earn the win. Beloit put six runs on the board - just two earned - in the fourth, but Monmouth got four runs back in the next two innings. Ince reached for the second time in the game on the way to a three-hit contest and came home when Hardy hit a two-run homer to left. Three hits in the sixth, including an RBI double bny Bryson Sheppard in the sixth cut the Monmouth deficit to two at 8-6. Beloit pulled away in a five-run seventh.

Monmouth meets Ripon in the Crossover's getaway game Sunday morning at 10.
