Box Score Monmouth got another stellar performance on the mound from
Tyler McDonald, but came up just short in the Scots' opening game of the Midwest Conference Crossover in Maustin, Wis., falling to St. Norbert 2-0.
McDonald fanned nine in 7-2/3 innings, but the Green Knights were able to scratch out single runs in the fourth and eighth innings to give the sophomore righty a hard-luck loss. The Scots threatened in the top of the ninth when
Jake Starkey opened the inning with his third hit of the game and was later joined on the based when
Tyler Ulfig picked up a single - one of six hits for the Scots on the night. St. Norbert then got out of the two-on, two-out situation to win the first game of the weekend.
The Scots face Lawrence Saturday morning at 11 before meeting Beloit in the afternoon at 2 p.m. The Crossover concludes for the Scots Sunday morning when they take on Lawrence.
