Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 A day after the Scots were swept by Illinois College, Monmouth banged out 32 hits in a 13-2, 7-5 sweep of the Blueboys in Jacksonville.

Austin Hardy provided all the offense Connor McDonald would need to pick up the Game 1 win wit a 4-for-5 performance that included five RBIs and narrowly missing hitting for the cycle. Hardy's first inning two run homer followed a solo blast by Ryan Sparks as all four of the Scots' first inning hits went for extra bases. Monmouth piled on five more runs in the third inning when Hardy's two-out double plated three. McDonald, meanwhile was fanning seven and scattering eight hits in the game shortened by the run rule.

While Hardy's bat did damage in the opener, it was his arm in the nightcap that helped the Scots to the sweep. The senior worked seven innings, striking out eight and allowing just a pair of runs on five hits while the Scots gave him plenty of support. Monmouth's bats were still hot as the game opened, scoring five first inning runs as the team banged out six hits and batted around. Trailing 7-2 in the bottom of the ninth, IC strung together five hits, scoring three before Asa Stevenson came from the pen to put out the threat.

The Scots travel to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, for a nonconference doubleheader against Coe on Tuesday.
