SCOTS RALLY FOR SEASON-OPENING WIN

Box Score Monmouth came back from a 6-2 deficit after two innings to notch their first season-opening win in more than a decade with an 8-6 win over Widener in Ft. Pierce, Fla.

Tied at 6-6 in the bottom of the eighth, Nic Stevens delivered a two-out, two RBI infield single to make a winner of reliever Asa Stevenson. Stevenson came on in the sixth and allowed jsute one hit over four innings of work.

The Scots steadily chipped away at the early hole, knotting the game at 6-each when Grant Myers stroked a two-RBI double in the fifth. Myers finished the game with four RBIs after going 3-for-4 at the plate.

Interestingly, the Scots last season-opening win came against Widener in 2005.
