th birthday, the Fighting Scots presented their coach with a 52-6 win over previously unbeaten Lake Forest, moving Monmouth to 4-0 on the season and 2-0 in Midwest Conference play.

Monmouth scored on all but one possession of the first half to take a commanding 31-6 lead at the intermission. With
Tanner Matlick connecting for 300 yards and three TDs – 160 yards and two scores to
Brock Thoms –  and the defense holding the Foresters to 229 yards, the Scots posted a 541 yard day, the third time this season the Scots have outgained their opponents by more than 200 yards.

Matlick hit
Jacolby Maxwell for a 33-yard TD pass to open the scoring, capping a seven-play, 67-yard drive. A
Joey Biel 35-yard field goal followed as Monmouth led 10-0 just 10 minutes into the game. Thoms completed the Scots' first half scoring with a 30-yard TD reception, his first of two, 30-yard TD catches, with 3:26 to play in the first half.

The Scots then scored on their first three second half possessions as the Scots' defense shut out the Foresters in the final two quarters.

DeAndre Wright led Monmouth's ground attach with 112 yards on 17 carries while
D.J. Frank posted 10 tackles as Monmouth held Forester running back Joey Valdivia to just nine yards, some 160 yards below his season average.
