Box Score Tyler McDonald tossed six innings of scoreless ball and got early run support as Monmouth ripped Robert Morris (Peoria) 9-0 Saturday at windblown Glasgow Field.
Â
With the wind blowing in, the Scots pounded out 13 hits and jumped on five Eagles' errors to give McDonald his second win in as many outings. The Scots got up quickly with four runs in the opening inning. With the bases loaded and one out,
Grant Myers brought in the first run, scoring
Brandon Harroun on a ground out to second. Â
Bryson Sheppard then launched a gap double driving in
Austin Hardy who had walked and
Dayton Ince. Sheppard then raced home for a 4-0 lead when
Nic Stevens' batted ball was mishandled.
Â
McDonald took it from there, working out of runners on situations in the first four inning before retiring the side in order in the fifth and sixth.
Ridge Greenman worked the final three innings and working out of a two-on, one-out jam in the ninth.
Â
Hardy provided the big stick for the Scots with three hits and three RBIs.
Â
The teams will meet again Sunday for a doubleheader in Peoria.
