SCOTS ERUPT FOR FOUR-RUN SIXTH FOR BETOURNE'S FIRST CAREER COACHING WIN

Box Score Monmouth's Logan Spangler worked into the sixth inning and got help from the offense with a four-run sixth to give new head coach Alan Betourne his first career win with a 6-3 victory over Hilbert College.

Spangler scattered seven hits over 5-1/3 innings in Ft. Pierce, Fla., to keep the Hawks flightless. The Scots gave Spangler a quick 2-0 lead in the first when Ryan Sparks' double – the first of two hits on the day  by the second baseman – drove in Matt Inness who had singled. Grant Myer's then tripled in Sparks.

Monmouth added four runs in the sixth, pounding out five hits in the inning. Harry Sanchez and Brandon Harroun supplied the key hits with a pair of two-run safeties.

Rookie Ridge Greenman came from the bullpen in the bottom of the sixth and held the Hawks scoreless to earn his first career save.
