Box Score Brandon Harroun pitched six strong innings and got late inning help as Monmouth posted an 8-2 come-from-behind win at Iowa Wesleyan.
After splitting a twinbill Saturday in Monmouth, the Scots took the series with the win at Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. Harroun scattered seven hits, but fell behind when the Tigers used back-to-back doubles and a two-out single to take a 2-0 lead in the third inning.
The Scots got one run back in the sixth, taking advantage of back-to-back two-out hits. After
Grant Myers stroked a single with two down,
Dayton Inces delivered an RBI double to cut the margin to 2-1.
Monmouth came up with five runs in the seventh, combing two Tigers errors with three hits.
Lucas Giertz opened the inning reaching on an outfield error and came home to knot the game at 2-2 on
Jake Starkey's sac fly. A
Ryan Sparks double - his second of three hits on the night - followed as did a walk to
Austin Hardy.
Matt Mullen quickly connected on for a two-run double and came home when Myers stroked his first of two homers to give the Scots a 6-2 lead.
Leading 6-2 in the ninth, the Scots added two more on a Myers solo homer and a sac fly from Giertz to bring Ince home.
Connor McDonald worked the final three innings to preserve Harroun's second win against no losses.
