Box Score Monmouth left no doubt they're ready for the Braun era, running by Hope College in
Chad Braun's debut to post a 31-19 win on the road. The Scots racked up 450 yards of offense and held the Dutchmen to 251 yards to give Braun career win No. 1.

The Fighting Scots drove 91 yards on their first possession to take a quick 7-0 lead in the first quarter.
Trent Rains, who gained 97 yards on the ground, put the Scots on the board with a four-yard TD run to cap the 13-play drive.

Easton Shafer then hauled in a
Tanner Matlick pass for a score early in the second quarter to end a 10-play, 75-yard drive and
Danny Muzzalupo's 27-yard field goal at the horn sent the Scots into intermission with a 17-6 lead.

The teams traded TDs in the second half, Hope scoring with 4:53 left in the third period pulling to within four at 17-13. Monmouth answered on their next possession and Hope did the same as Monmouth led 24-19 as the third quarter closed.

The Scots' defense then forced the Dutch into a three-and-out, setting up the Scots at the Hope 45 with 11:15 left in the game.
Tanner Shafer picked up 21 of his 70 yards on the first play and Rains then finished the drive five plays later to give the Scots the 31-19 cushion.

Matlick ended the day 24-for-32 passing for 228 yards and one TD.
Easton Schaber pulled in 10 passes for 96 yards.
