Scots' late rally falls just short

Box Score The Scots banged out nine hits, but couldn't overcome a late deficit falling to Thiel 6-3 in Ft. Myers, Fla.

Trailing 6-0 entering the eighth, Alex Temple drew a two-out walk to start the rally. Ryan Sparks then came up with his third hit of the game and an error on a ground ball by Mark Zhorne kept the inning alive. After Temple scored on a wild pitch, Jesse Brucker storked a two-run double to pull the Scots to within three at 6-3. Thiel snuffed the rally by inducing an inniing-ending ground out.

Pinch-hitter Bryson Sheppard tried to give the Scots another two-out rally in the ninth with a base hit, but a force out on the next play ended the game.
