Scots end season with split

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Monmouth got off to a good start but couldn't complete the sweep, instead splitting Sunday's season-ending twinbill at KNox winning the opener 7-3, but falling in the nightcap 5-3.

Ryan Crandall led the charge in the opener, going 5-for-6 with 3 RBIs and 3 stolen bases. The Scots took advantage of 3 Prairie Fire errors in the third to take a 3-0 lead. They added another run in the fourth and an insurance run in the sixth to back starter Austin Hardy. The freshman fanned six in 7.2 innings before turning the ball over to Luke Gschwendter who retired the side in order in the ninth.

Knox jumped on the Scots for 3 quick runs in Game 2 and took advantage of 3 Scots errors in the fifth to plate two more runs. The Scots got one run back in the seventh when Alex Kemmer doubled and then came home on a two-bagger by Blake Abbott. Crandall led off the eight with his third hit of the game and scored on Alex Temple's ground out, but that would be all the Scots would score the rest of the way.

Crandall finished his career going 8-for-10 in the doubleheader.
