Baseball splits slugfest with IC

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The Scots split a doubleheader with Illinois College at Glasgow field on Saturday. IC dominated the first game, winning 10-0 in 7 innings while the Scots won the nightcap 13-6.
 
The Scots only managed four hits in Game 1. Defensively it wasn't much better, walking six batters and committing six errors in the shortened contest.
 
It was a completely different story in the second installment of the double-header. Ryan Crandall led off the game getting hit by a pitch followed by a two run home run by Ryan Sparks. Matt Glenn would be singled home by Nic Stevens later in the first as well to give the Scots an early 3-0 advantage.
 
The Scots gave up four runs in the bottom half of the frame but would hang around despite giving up another two runs in the 6th inning.
 
Down 6-3 heading into the 8th inning, Andrew Baudino drew a leadoff walk followed by singles from Nic Stevens and Jesse Brucker to load the bases. Brandon Harroun worked a walk to force in a run and Alex Temple singled shortly after to run the score to 6-5 Blueboys.
 
Ryan Crandall hit a sac fly to knot the game up at 6-6. Matt Glenn hit an RBI single to put the Scots ahead going into the bottom of the frame.
 
The Blueboys went down quietly but the Scots stayed hot. RBIs from Temple, Glenn, Crandall, Bair and Brucker in the top of the 9th ran the score to 13-6, the winning margin.
 
Sawyer Shaw picked up the win in relief, going 2.1 innings and only allowing two hits.
 
The Scots (9-6 overall and 1-1 in Midwest Conference play) will host Illinois College for another doubleheader at Glasgow Field on Sunday.
