Box Score 2 The Fighting scots banged out 29 hits and 20 runs on the day, but split their twinbill at Cornell, taking the opener 8-5, but falling in the nightcap 16-12.
Logan Spangler scattered seven hits for the win in Game 1. Blake Abbott's two-run base hit plated Ryan Sparks and Brandon Harroun with what proved to be the winning runs in the Scots' four-hit sixth inning.. Chase Bair knocked in a pair of insurance runs with his thrid hit of the game in the eighth to give Monmouth the 8-5 lead. Gschwendtner worked out of a two-on, no out jam in the ninth to earn his tam-best fourht save.
Matt Glenn and Jesse Brucker drove in three runs each in the nightcap, but the Scots couldn't hold off the Rams after leading 11-8 in the bottom of the eighth. Two of the Scots five errors in the game came in the crucial inning and opened the door for eight Rams' runs in the frame, only one earned.
The teams will meet Saturday at noon at Monmouth's Glasgow Field.
