Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Monmouth banged out 20 hits, but couldn't get them at opportune times in an 8-7, 8-4 doubleheader loss at Grinnell.

Leading 2-0 heading into the fourth inning of Game 1, the Scots plated three runs on five hits to take a 5-0 lead. Grinnell answered with a solo homer in their half of the frame, then errupted for six runs in the eighth to tie the game at 7-7. Aided by a pair of wild pitches in the ninth, the Pioneers pushed a single run across for the opening game win.

Matt Glenn's first inning homer in Game 2 powered the Scots to a  quick 3-0 lead, but the Pioneers again rallied late. Grinnell touched the Scots for six runs in the fourth on five hits to pull out to a 6-3 lead. The Pioneers held on for the win as the Scots could muster just three base runners the rest of the way.
