The Fighting Scots broke open the game in the third quarter when they scored on their first possession of the second half after
Austin Ray returned the kickoff 35 yards to the Monmouth 45.
Alec Dutko then made quick work, hitting
C.J. Shields for a 45-yard TD on the fourth play of the drive.

Michael Lafferty picked off a pass with Carroll driving two possessions later to set up another Scots' score. Lafferty's interception return moved the ball down to the Carroll 7 and the Scots scored on the next play when Dutko hit
Jimmy Flynn for the TD to put Monmouth up 28-14.

The Scots then added a field goal and TD in the final quarter to win as snow began falling at April Zorn Memorial Stadium.

Dutko finished the day with 151 passing yards while
Trent Rains added 115 yards on the ground.
Matt Barnes led the defense with 14 tackles, including three for loss.
