Scots pick six in 49-21 win over Red Hawks

Box Score Monmouth took advantage when Ripon turned the ball over on five of their first six possessions to beat the Red Hawks 49-21 in the Scots' home season finale.

The Scots missed a pair of opportunities early when the Red Hawks lost the first snaps on their first two possessions. A three-and-out and a missed field goal in the first two minutes of the game allowed the Red Hawks to take the lead on their third possession. Ripon put together a 10-play, 80-yard drive midway through the first quarter for a 7-0 lead.

Monmouth finally took advantage by returning a fumble and an interception for TDs. Jack Porter recovered a Stephen Covalt fumble and returned it 18 yards for the Scots' first score in the second quarter before Alex Sheppard ran a pick back 20 yards for the Scots' second TD.

Jacob Wilson then set up Monmouth's third score of the first half, returning a punt 57 yards to the Ripon four. Trey Yocum then finished off the possession, scoring from four yards out.

Tanner Matlick's 28-yard scamper at the close of the first half gave the Scots a 28-14 halftime lead. The Scots added three more scores in the second half.
